The seat of the clan is Elsick House located in Kincardineshire, northeast Scotland. The house was acquired by the Carnegie family through marriage with the Bannerman family in 1891. The home is still owned by the family but can be rented out for events and parties.
In 1616 David Carnegie, the clan’s chief, was granted the title Lord Carnegie of Kinnaird and in 1633 was made Earl of Southesk. In 1715 the Carnegies took part in the Jacobite uprising and had their estates forfeited to the crown. In 1885 the estates and titles were restored.
The Carnegie clan chief and family now call Kinnard Castle their home. This Castle features many of the art and artifacts of the clan. The public can visit the estate and stay at small guest homes on the property.
