Monimail Tower

The Palace of Monimail, also known as Monimail Tower, was a Renaissance palace located in Fife, Scotland. It was originally a residence for the Archbishops of St Andrews and is believed to have been built in the early 13th century. The palace was later owned by the Melville family and became a chief seat for them in the early 17th century. It was abandoned in the late 17th century and most of the palace was subsequently demolished. The only surviving tower is located in the grounds of Melville House, near the village of Monimail. It is believed that the tower was originally part of the episcopal palace, but the upper parts date from later 16th-century restoration. The tower has undergone restoration and is now open to the public as a visitor attraction.
