Aldourie Castle
Aldourie Castle is a historic castle in Scotland, located on the banks of Loch Ness. It was originally a property of the Mackintosh of Kyllachy clan in Nairnside but was significantly extended in the 1860s by William Fraser-Tytler, who added various features in the style of early 17th century baronial architecture. The castle was further extended in 1902-04 by Sir Robert Lorimer. In 2015, it was purchased by Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen. Today, the castle is available for rent and is used primarily for private stays. It features on-site activities such as clay pigeon shooting, archery, and boat tours, and has undergone extensive restoration work to preserve its historic features. The surrounding parkland and gardens are protected as part of the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.
