Balvenie Castle

Balvenie Castle, Scotland
Balvenie Castle, Scotland

Balvenie Castle is a ruined castle located in the Moray region of Scotland. It was built in the 12th century by a branch of the Comyn family, and was later extended and altered in the 15th and 16th centuries. The castle was attacked by Robert the Bruce in 1308, which left it uninhabitable. It was later passed to the Earl of Douglas, and then to the Earl of Atholl. The remains of the castle are managed by Historic Environment Scotland as a scheduled monument, and it is open to the public from April to September.
