Inverugie Castle
Inverugie Castle was a castle located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It was first built by the Cheyne family in the 13th or 14th century, and later passed to the Keith family in the 14th century. The current castle was built in the 17th century by the Keiths, but was later forfeited after the Jacobite Rebellion and passed to the Ferguson family. The castle fell into disrepair and was ultimately demolished in the late 19th century. It is now a scheduled ancient monument, and only ruins remain. William Burnes, the father of the poet Robert Burns, worked as a gardener at Inverugie Castle before moving to Ayrshire.
