Kilmartin Castle

Kilmartin Castle was built in 1550 for John Carswell, Rector of Kilmartin Glen and later Bishop of The Isles. After he left the castle, it was passed to the Campbell Clan, one of the largest and most powerful of the Highland clans. The castle was later abandoned and left to ruin for over 200 years. In 2019, following an extensive refurbishment, the castle reopened as a luxury bed and breakfast.
