Boghall Castle
Boghall Castle was a 14th century castle located in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It was built by the Fleming family to replace the motte and bailey castle at Biggar. The foundations of two D shaped towers still survive, but the rest of the castle is ruinous. Edward II of England, Queen Margaret of Scotland, and Mary, Queen of Scots all stayed there. In 1568, Regent Moray took control of the castle and in 1569 soldiers confiscated the goods of Lord Fleming, including 8 oxen, 13 cows, and a bull. In 1578, an inventory of goods was made after the death of Elizabeth Ross, Lady Fleming. After the Battle of Bothwell Bridge in 1679, Boghall Castle was abandoned and its ruins began to collapse in the 19th century.
