Blair Castle
Blair Castle is a historic castle located in Scotland near the village of Blair Atholl. It is the ancestral home of the Clan Murray and was historically the seat of the Duke of Atholl. The castle has a long history, dating back to 1269 when it was started by John I Comyn, Lord of Badenoch. The castle has been passed through different individuals and families over the centuries, until it was granted to the Murray family in 1629. The castle played a role in the Wars of the Three Kingdoms of the 17th century, and was occupied by Jacobite forces during the Jacobite rising of 1689 and the Jacobite rising of 1745. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visited the castle in 1844. Part of the castle was used as a hospital during World War I. The castle and its grounds are currently a category A listed building and are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.
