Craigievar Castle
Craigievar Castle is a pinkish harled castle located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It was the seat of Clan Sempill and the Forbes family resided there for 350 years until 1963 when the property was given to the National Trust for Scotland. It is an excellent example of Scottish Baronial architecture and is noted for its exceptionally crafted plasterwork ceilings, which are considered to be among the finest in Scotland. The castle was completed in 1626 by Aberdonian merchant William Forbes, who purchased the partially completed structure from the Mortimer family. The Forbes family also owned the castle in the 19th century and made repairs to the building, including roof repairs and reconstruction of almost the entire top floor. The castle is also said to be haunted by one or more ghosts according to local folklore.
