Keir Castle
The Keir estate is a large country house and grounds located in Lecropt, Scotland. It has a long history dating back to the 15th century, when it was acquired by the Stirling family. The house itself was built in the 16th century, but has undergone several renovations and expansions over the years. The Stirlings were supporters of the Jacobites, and the estate was forfeited during the 18th-century rebellions. However, they continued to live at Keir and built the present house in around 1760. The gardens at Keir were created in the 19th century, and the house and grounds have undergone further renovations and additions since then, including the addition of a chapel in 1912. The Keir estate was sold by the Stirling family in 1975 to a businessman from the United Arab Emirates. The grounds include a New Lodge, Home Farm, and several other outbuildings. The estate is protected as a category A listed building and the grounds are included on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.
