Melville House
Melville House is a historic building in Fife, Scotland that was built in 1697 by architect James Smith for George Melville, 1st Earl of Melville. The house has a long and varied history, serving as a billet for Polish soldiers during World War II, a preparatory school, and a special education boarding school. It was later refurbished as a private home before being sold and then repossessed by a bank, making it the most expensive repossessed property in Britain. Melville House is a category A listed building and the grounds are included on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland. The house is known for its architectural features and historical significance.
