Barnes Castle

Barnes Castle, also known as Barney Vaults or The Vaults, is a quadrangular castle located in East Lothian, Scotland. It was granted to Alexander de Seyton by King Robert the Bruce in the early 14th century and by the late 16th century it had passed to Sir John Seton of Barnes, a diplomat and lord at the court of King James VI. The castle was built in a modern, symmetrical design and features square towers at each corner, with additional towers along the walls. It has gun loops on the towers to protect the castle and a large courtyard with a symmetrical entrance. The castle was apparently never completed, and its remains are now used to store agricultural equipment. It is protected as a scheduled monument.
